Add a Device to Windows 8


1. Open the Start menu in Windows and type in "device." Click where it says "Settings under the search box.

2. Select the "Add a device" option from the list of selections that appear in the top left corner of the search screen under where it says "Settings" in big letters.

3. Connect your device to your computer with the USB or other cable that it comes with.

4. Click on "Add a device" in the top left corner of the new screen under "Devices." You'll see a plus symbol icon there. The computer will now scan for your new device and it should recognize it and add it to the list of devices here.

5. Select any device in the list and click on the "-" sign to remove it from the list if you ever need to do so.

Add Start Tiles to the Taskbar in Windows 8







1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start screen. Look for a tile that you want to add, such as Dropbox for example.

2. Right-click on the tile and you'll see a green check mark appear on it.

3. Click on the "Pin to taskbar" option that appears in the green bar at the bottom of the Start screen.

4. Go to your desktop and look at the bottom of the screen in the taskbar. You should see the tile icon, in this case the blue one for dropbox, now on the taskbar.

Add News Feed to Windows 8







1. Press the "Windows" key on your keyboard. Select the "News" tile from the Start screen,

2. Right-click in the News screen, and select "My News."

3. Click on the "Add a section" option on the far right of the new screen.

4. Type in news you're interested in under the "Add a section" textbox. Select a topic such as "Android" to add it.

5. Look for the new section you added in the "My News" section to view the new feed.

Add Narration in Windows 8







1. Search for "narrator" in Windows 8. Click on the "Apps" area with the monitor icon.

2. Select the "Narrator" icon with the computer and speech bubble image.

3. Click on the "General" section of the Narrator settings. The narration will begin immediately,but you can still change more settings.

4. Hit the "Control whether Narrator starts when I sign in" option.

5. Select the "Turn on Narrator" box to make the option turn out automatically when Windows starts up.

Access the Windows 8 Store







1. Press the Windows key or press the start button on the bottom left of the desktop to go to the start screen.

2. Click on the green tile titled "Store" in the Start screen. You can also click search in the charms bar and search for the store if you unpinned it from your start screen.

3. Select a category to start browsing apps, such as "Top free" on the right.

4. Select an app to access and install.

5. Click "Install" to install the app. This downloads and installs the app on your PC, so that you can access it.

Access Windows 8 Network







1. Right-click on the folder icon in the taskbar at the bottom of Windows 8.

2. Select "File Explorer" from the drop-down menu that appears.

3. Click on the "Network" option in the bottom left corner of the new screen.

4. Select a computer on the network that you want to access.

5. Open any of the folders in that computer to look at and use files. This includes regular computers as well as printers on the network.

Access Windows Defender in Windows 8



1.

1.Open the "Start" screen in Windows with the Windows key and type in "windows defender." Select the "Apps" option right under the Search window.

2. Select "Windows Defender" where it's listed in the upper left corner of the screen,

3. Select the type of Scan you want to right such as "Quick" and then click "Scan Now" if you want to run a scan. Click on the "Update" tab.

4. Check to see whether the software is up to date. Click the "Update" button if it's not.

5. Click on the "Settings" tab and check "Turn on real time protection" to help prevent threats. Click "Save changes" to keep your settings.

Access Windows 8 Games

1. Select "Start" from the Charm bar menu on the far right in Windows.

2. Select the green "Games" box in the Start menu.

3. Click on a game that you want to play in the Games section.

4. Select "Explore Game" from the options on the right.

5. Hit "Play Game" to begin playing.

[2] The fontview run command must be followed with the name of the font that you want to see.
[3] This run command can not be executed from the Command Prompt because the file is not in the default Windows path. However, it can be run from other areas in Windows 8 that allow execution of files when typed, like Run and Search.
