1. Navigate to the Windows Desktop by pressing the Windows key an the D key simultaneously.
2. Open the Charms Bar in Windows 8 by moving your cursor over to the bottom right. Click on "Settings."
3. Select "Control Panel" from the options that appear there.
4. Click on the "Location settings" option that comes up.
5. Check the box marked "Turn on the Windows Location platform." You can also check the "Help improve Microsoft location services" if you want as well. This will give Microsoft data about you, but not for identification or contact purposes.
6. Click "Apply" to make the changes stick.
