Customize Logon, Logoff and Shutdown Sounds in Windows 8

1. Press the Windows and "R" key on your keyboard. Type in "Regedit" into the window that appears and click "OK."

2. Click on "HKEY_Current_User," then on "Appevents," and then on "Eventlabels" in the Registry Editor screen that appears.

3. Scroll down until you see "WindowsLogon," WindowsLogoff," and "SystemExit." Click on any one of these.

4. Double-click "ExcludeFromCPL" in the screen up on the right.

5. Change the value under "Value data" from "1" to "0." Click "OK." Do the same thing for all three of the Windowslogon, Windowslogoff, and Systemexit selections.

6. Open the Control Panel through the Library shortcut in Windows. Open "Sounds," and then select the "Sounds" tab. Select "Windowslogon," for example, and then change the sound you want under "Sounds." Click "Apply" to change the sound.
